Delaware HB 60 renamed as "Kayla's Bill"

BREAKING NEWS: One of our very own founding families received some much deserved recognition from Delaware Legislators this afternoon. Representative Melanie George Smith renamed House Bill 60 as, "Kayla's Bill", after her family showed intense dedication and tireless advocacy for the ABLE Act. Thank you Rep. Melanie George Smith
Rep. Trey Paradee, Rep. Valerie Longhurst, and Rep.Quinn Johnson!

Oh, and Kayla's Bill was voted unanimously out of the House! Next stop...Senate!!

Delaware's ABLE Act bill passes committer

The good news continues for people with disabilities in Delaware as the state's ‪#‎ABLEAct‬ bill (HB 60) passed committee today. The vote is next!!! ♡
321foundation families were present for both Disability Day at Legislative Hall and the Finance Committee hearing where Amy Kosmalski spoke on the House floor about how the ABLE Act will improve people's lives. Her daughter, Kayla, asked for the vote and delcared it released from committee!

Max Taylor is 5 years old and loves to make people laugh. He enjoys music, dancing, and is incredibly proud that he can now sing his ABCs (to everyone willing to listen) and is learning to read!

Brady is 5 years old and is in kindergarten. When he's not in school learning his ABCs, he loves reading books, playing on his iPad, dressing up, and watching Teen Beach Movie (just to name a few things, and not in any particular order). Brady has brought so much joy to his family and they couldn't be prouder of him.

Today's spotlight is on Natalie

Hi!  I'm Natalie and just turned four at the end of January. I love singing, being read to, ballet class, and cheering on my family in 5k races.
   I was not a huge fan of the cold weather this winter had to offer.  My aunt & sister tried to encourage me to go sledding with them but I insisted I was "done" and that it was too "cold".  I am more of a warm weather kind of gal 😎
       I spend three mornings a week at preschool with my terrific teacher and caring friends.  The other two mornings I can be found in a variety of places:
~attending therapies to hone in on my gross & fine motor and speech skills.
~serving as a valuable addition to the Children & Families Committee as part of the Developmental Disability Council.
   -AND-
~teaching the community the importance and benefits of #inclusion.
  
     I can't wait for warmer weather so I can hit up the park with my sister and friends, lunch dates with my dad, visit the beach and drive around the neighborhood in my sisters Jeep!

Levi is three years old. He is "all boy". He loves exploring, climbing, and rough housing. His smile, laughter and personality are magnetic and he makes friends wherever he goes.

Kayla...also known as Princess Kayla is 8 years old and is in the 3rd grade. She loves Disney, being in pageants, hip hop dancing , Taylor Swift and going to school...and occasionally she loves her 2 year old brother, Logan. Her smile lights up every room...and her sass and drama are equally amazing....proving that people with Down syndrome are more alike than different.

Kayla...we think you are a star. Shine bright!!!!

Time to highlight cutie pie Charlotte....

Did you know Charlotte is a twin? She and Henry have a special bond and at almost 5, are always on the go! One of her favorite things to say is "C'mon" as she is off on the next adventure. She enjoys music and dance parties and jumping on her bed. She also loves books and quiet reading on her own or with mom and dad. She is recently a big sister and is the best in her family at getting her baby sister to smile and laugh. We think it's because her own smile is infectious!

We think so too!!!!

One strong little girl

Today's spotlight is on Francesca Maria Olivere, AKA Frank the Tank! One strong little girl. First surgery at 2 days old, 13 since then. The most recent was brain surgery for an extremely rare disease called MoyaMoya, which was causing small strokes with risk for a major one and death. She was home in 2 days from that surgery and back to school in 5! She is amazing. Many people use that word loosely. She is AMAZING. She is STRONG. She is FUNNY. She is Frank the Tank.

Franki we think you are the definition of STRONG....and you are gorgeous, too. What a perfect combination!

River rocks!

River is 4 years old and in preschool. She loves to play in her kitchen and serve food to her family and friends. River also loves watching movies and fast forwarding to her favorite scenes. Everyday that the weather allows it, River wants to take a walk around the neighborhood with her family and dog Cooper.
